How do people in other countries talk about sheep?

English - sheep Spanish – oveja
German – schaf                  French – mouton
Italian – pecora Irish – caoraigh
Dutch - schaap Afrikaas – skaap

Did you know? 

  • Wool is flame resistant.
  • Different breeds of sheep grow different kinds of wool.  
    Their wool can be fine, medium or coarse.
  • Fine wool is used for clothing.
  • Medium wool is used for blankets.
  • Coarse wool is often used to make carpets.
  • Wool has many uses besides clothing, fabrics, yarn and carpet. 
    It is also used for baseballs and tennis balls.
  • There are 150 yards of wool yarn in a baseball.
  • One pound of wool can be spun into 20 miles of fine yarn.
